Janet had a
second floor hallway skylite in poor condition. There were some broken pieces of glass,
oxidized and broken leads, and a considerable amount of dirt and debris from
the lightwell above had collected on the glass. Here are three views of this hallway
skylite which Gary removed, restored and
re-installed in Janet’s home in University
City. The
skylite is original to the house and measures approximately 20” by
36”. Gary recycled the old lead, cleaned all the
glass, cut new matching glass, re-leaded the panel, then soldered, cemented
and installed it. Installation
included a protective Plexiglas panel placed 3” above the leaded glass
panel to protect it from possible falling debris from the lightwell above.
