Leaded Glass Repairs & Commissions
University City, Philadelphia, PA (and adjacent areas)

One of Gary's first projects was the Green Line Cafe at 43rd Street and Baltmore Avenue in University City, Philadelphia.  Proprietors and brothers-in-law Doug and Dan wanted to restore the leaded glass windows of the old flower shop (Le Marche au Fleurs).  The windows still existed but were in terrible condition and painted over.  The windows were removed and taken to Gary's studio.  The frames were  reconditioned.  Dan, Doug and Gary decided to use some color, and the original pattern, in the main windows.  For color, many shades of waterglass were used. The windows were installed in late 2002.

To the right of the entrance door is a large rounded window, above which was a piece of rounded plywood.  Dan, Doug and Gary decided to put in a "leaded" glass window.  Traditional leaded glass in a rounded frame would be difficult to fabricate and quite costly.  Gary proposed using long glass bevels and zinc came to construct a window in place in the existing opening, then putty it in as for a regular sash.

A small round panel of a coffee tree branch with beans and flowers was made and installed in a round window at the rear of the Green Line.
